Job description

A vacancy has arisen for a Sergeant (Any) to serve as SNCO Reserves Recruiting Team Coord at Headquarters RAF Recruiting and Selection (R&S) on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 06 April 2026 (or earlier).

RAF R&S Mission is to attract and select for training the diversity quantity and quality of people necessary to sustain RAF operational capability. SNCO Reserves Recruiting Team Coord will work within HQ R&S Reserves Recruiting Team to support Reserve Support Wings (RSWs) & Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAuxAF) Sqns to select and recruit Part-Time Volunteer Reservists (PTVRs).

Specifically upon successful completion of the RAF Recruiting Course at RAF Cranwell (unless already completed) SNCO Reserves Recruiting Team Coord will be responsible to SO2 Reserves and Rejoiners for the following aspects of Recruitment and Selection :

  • The recruiting task as defined in The Royal Air Force Manual of Recruiting & Selection (AP3391). Maintaining a level of performance sufficient to meet the Business Objectives of RAF Recruiting and Selection (R&S) as defined within the Into Training Targets (ITTs) and specific objectives contained within the RAF Recruiting and Selection Mission Directive. This task is to be completed whilst ensuring that all procedures and processes used to maintain the throughput of potential Commissioned Officer and Enlisted Aviator (EA) recruits are consistently applied.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert and interfacing with the Reserve Sqns / RSWs to ensure commonality of approach and delivery of Reserve recruitment.
  • Responsible for the output of 4 x JNCOs to deliver support to Sqns / RSWs providing end to end processing support and support to events including DAA Info Days and engagement activity if / as required.
  • Develop and ensure standardised process for submission of Sqn / RSW support requests to optimise planning / prioritisation of RRT support activity.
  • Develop effective working relationships with all associated stakeholders including but not limited to RPMC R&S QCIT Sqns / RSWs Capita Nuffield R&S Marketing AFCOs OASC Control Officer Processing CBAT to enabling proactive identification and scoping of appropriate recruiting support arrangements.
  • Identify emerging requirements to ensure provision of ad-hoc and ongoing support to Sqns / RSWs and HQ RRT during periods of absence or surge as directed by SO2 RRT.
  • Facilitate Reserve Officer attendance at OASC specifically vetting casework prior to requesting a Board Date and conducting final disposal actions.
  • Undertake Independent Audits of all Sqns / RSWs IAW AP 3391 Vol2 Lft 306.
  • Invigilate Interviews as required to ensure proficiency of JNCO ARRTs and Sqn recruiters if appropriate.
  • Ensure JNCO ARRTs provide adequate mentoring for all new Res Sqns / RSW recruiters.
  • Ensure routine regular Sqn engagement visits are undertaken by SNCO RRT Coord and JNCO ARRT to discuss matters of the moment current pipeline status and any issues.
  • Ensure all Res ICCs are completed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Attendance at conferences meetings workshops training events as required.
  • Act as Independent 3rd Member for Selection Boards for new JNCO Sqn / RSW recruiters as required.
  • All aspects of Line Management of 4 x JNCOs.
  • Any other duties detailed by SO1 Recruiting Force SO2 Reserves Recruiting & Rejoiners and SO3 Reserves Recruiting.
