Permanent - Site Manager/Supervisor - Mechanical

📍 Location: Greater Manchester / Lancashire / Cheshire / West Yorkshire / Wigan / Warrington / Huddersfield / Leeds / Wakefield

💰 Salary package: £60k - £65k pa + vehicle & fuel card + package

📅 Working week: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 5 pm (50 hrs p/w)

The Client:

Our client, whose head offices are in Manchester, is a UK‑leading projects & site installations company working with a wide variety of customers across food & beverage, pharmaceutical & automotive manufacturing sectors.

The role:

This is an autonomous EPCM site‑management role, managing full installation lifecycle, from site costing and quotations to installation, commissioning and handover.

You will lead site progress from managing key client relationships, suppliers, sub‑contractors, team of skilled site fitters and ensuring timescales are met, whilst ensuring site safety and quality standards are adhered to.

Mechanical Site Manager/Supervisor - Daily Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to Regional Operations Manager and dotted line to Project Manager; oversee multidisciplinary team of Site Fitters, Installation Engineers and installation teams to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency
  • Managing installation of capital equipment, process machinery, fabrications, access and support platforms, sheet metal chutes & hoppers, plant lay‑outs, and pipework, etc.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day work scope execution and site operations
  • Writing and signing off RAMs and issuing permits
  • Ensuring site safety and CDM regs are adhered to
  • Cost and quote day‑to‑day jobs within framework agreement ranging from £10k up to £200k – utilising company costing matrix
  • Support business growth and client satisfaction on site
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with key clients, ensuring a high standard of service and repeat business
  • Manage labour and resource on site – ensuring hours and timesheets are correct
  • Ordering materials on time and within supplier frameworks
  • Reporting an issue and snags immediately to key stakeholders, internally in the first instance
  • Drive continuous improvement in site execution, labour utilisation, and resource management
Mechanical Site Manager - Person Specification:
  • Apprentice‑trained in Mechanical Engineering (fabrication/pipework) with an HNC or similar in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ideally 5‑10 years of experience in mechanical site installations management or supervision within food/ beverage processing, pharmaceutical or FMCG manufacturing environments
  • In‑depth knowledge of mechanical processes, installation of machinery, fabrications, sheet metal and hygiene pipework plant
  • Skilled in leading teams & managing client relationships
  • Experience integrating and working with and alongside electrical teams
  • Commercial acumen in costing and quoting work, etc.
  • SMSTS or minimum SSSTS certification required
  • First Aid / SPA / IoSH managing Safely desirable
  • Full UK driving licence required
  • Flexible for site travel – customers’ sites across the Northwest / Yorkshire / M62 corridor
