Job description
Overview

Site Manager required to join a reputable main contractor and oversee the delivery of the civils and groundworks package for a 5 week duration. The role will focus on groundworks, pile mats, and overseeing setting out engineers. Someone with an Engineering background is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all civils and groundworks on a new project breaking ground this month
  • Carry out spot checks to verify gridlines, datums, and ensure quality of setting out
  • Oversee the use of surveying instruments (e.g., EDM, rotating laser level) – experience preferred but not essential
  • Confidently interpret design drawings, specifications, and construction details
  • Manage QA processes using Procore and site-based Android/tablet software
  • Attend and contribute to weekly progress meetings and daily coordination briefings with site teams and subcontractors
  • Monitor programme progress, identify delays, and report issues proactively
  • Promote high standards of health and safety, including site housekeeping, work permits, and compliance with HSE regulations
Qualifications
  • A background in Engineering and proven experience managing civils and groundworks on a construction site
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and project management software
  • SMSTS and CSCS are essential. First Aid, Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor certificates are advantageous
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across multiple teams and stakeholders
