About the Role

We are recruiting a Freelance Site Manager with strong experience in flat roofing contracts to join a leading social housing contractor. This role starts on a freelance/temporary basis, with the opportunity to move into a permanent position for the right candidate. You will oversee day-to-day operations on residential roofing projects, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise flat roofing works across social housing projects.

  • Oversee subcontractors and site operatives to keep projects on programme.

  • Carry out daily site inspections and maintain accurate site records.

  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety requirements, including RAMS and toolbox talks.

  • Liaise with residents, clients, project managers, and suppliers.

  • Monitor progress, quality, and materials, providing weekly updates.

  • Deliver projects to the highest standard and within budget.

Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing flat roofing projects (e.g., single-ply, liquid-applied, bituminous systems).

  • Strong understanding of roofing installation processes and industry standards.

  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification.

  • Valid CSCS card.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Confident managing works within an occupied social housing environment.

Desirable
  • First Aid at Work certificate.

  • Experience with digital QA and reporting systems.

  • Manufacturer-approved installer training (e.g., Bauder, Axter, Sika, IKO).
