We are recruiting a Freelance Site Manager with strong experience in flat roofing contracts to join a leading social housing contractor. This role starts on a freelance/temporary basis, with the opportunity to move into a permanent position for the right candidate. You will oversee day-to-day operations on residential roofing projects, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery.
Manage and supervise flat roofing works across social housing projects.
Oversee subcontractors and site operatives to keep projects on programme.
Carry out daily site inspections and maintain accurate site records.
Ensure full compliance with health & safety requirements, including RAMS and toolbox talks.
Liaise with residents, clients, project managers, and suppliers.
Monitor progress, quality, and materials, providing weekly updates.
Deliver projects to the highest standard and within budget.
Minimum 3 years’ experience managing flat roofing projects (e.g., single-ply, liquid-applied, bituminous systems).
Strong understanding of roofing installation processes and industry standards.
SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
Valid CSCS card.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Confident managing works within an occupied social housing environment.
First Aid at Work certificate.
Experience with digital QA and reporting systems.
Manufacturer-approved installer training (e.g., Bauder, Axter, Sika, IKO).
Competitive day rates (DOE) during freelance period.
