Freelance Lead Engineer - Onshore Wind Farm Project

We are seeking a freelance Lead Engineer to join a major onshore wind farm development in Scotland. This is a year‑long contract opportunity starting in January 2026, offering the chance to take ownership of engineering delivery and lead a growing team.

Role Overview

The Lead Engineer will take on the bulk of engineering work while directing and mentoring apprentice engineers and junior team members. This role requires someone who can clearly explain technical processes, guide less experienced staff, and ensure engineering standards are consistently met. With a strong pipeline of trainees, the company needs a leader who can put them to work effectively and build capability across the team.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading engineering delivery across site activities, not just supervising
  • Mentoring apprentice engineers and junior staff, ensuring they understand and contribute effectively
  • Managing setting out, surveying, and technical documentation
  • Coordinating with the wider project team to maintain programme certainty
  • Providing clear technical direction and ensuring compliance with HSQE and RAMS requirements
Requirements

Contract Details
