Job summary

A leading engineering and construction firm in Greater London is looking for a Site Engineer to oversee project inspections, ensure compliance with specifications, and resolve technical challenges. The successful candidate will hold an engineering qualification and demonstrate strong IT skills. Responsibilities include checking installation accuracy, assisting design teams, ensuring safety measures are followed, and promoting environmental standards. Ideal candidates will also have prior experience in civil engineering and relevant safety training.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Previous experience on civil engineering projects.
  • Safety training such as IOSSH and/or SSSTS or SMSTS.

A day in the life of a Murphy Site Engineer:
  • Checking Inspection Test Plans
  • Checking setting out protocols of sub‑contracted site engineers, review and agree a method to carry out consistently.
  • Checking Installation on site is correct according to specifications.
  • Assisting the Design Team with identifying setting out requirements on projects.
  • Review the Design Information prior to works commencing.
  • Checking that correct Quality Control is adhered to.
  • Resolving technical problems at all levels.
  • Ensuring activities are carried out in safe manner in accordance with the Project Safety Plan.
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated, in date and suitable checked in accordance with company policies and the manufacturers' defined requirements.
  • Ensure construction operations are carried out in accordance with the Contract requirements using the appropriate agreed procedures.
  • Ensure all site personnel have clear, accurate and appropriate information to carry out their duties.
  • Minimises environmental disturbance during construction works.
  • Supervises the outputs and confirms that the project environmental requirements are met.
  • Close liaison with the Project Team.
  • Ensure that only the latest issue drawings and documents are being used.
  • Assist the Site Management team to update KPI's, material reconciliation and progress reports
Engineering Duties

Qualifications
  • Engineering qualification from a reputable firm
  • IT Skills: Microsoft Office, Excel and Word proficiency
  • Able to articulate engineering concepts verbally to stakeholders and in written communication
  • Previous experience as an engineer on a civil engineering project
  • Driver’s license
  • Safety training IOSSH and/or SSSTS or SMSTS
  • It is expected that you will actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.”
