Ward 34 is a 26 bedded oncology/haematology ward within the Northern Centre for Cancer Care which delivers a variety of treatments to both inpatient and day case patients. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister to join the team.
Ward 34 specialises in the care of Teenage and Young Adult inpatients, day cases and direct emergency reviews.
The ward provides care for patients with a variety of oncological and haematological malignancies requiring administration of systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT), radiotherapy, nutritional support or symptom control so the suitable individual would benefit from having experience within this setting.
You will work closely with the both the Senior Sister and Band 6 Sister and be able to support them in the safe running of the ward. We are looking for someone who is an excellent team player who has a positive attitude to work.
It is essential that the candidate sets high standards in their care delivery and represent themselves as a role model for both the team and Trust.
NO AGENCIES PLEASE
We are looking for a forward-thinking, dynamic nurse who is keen to develop their leadership and management skills and has a passion for service improvement.
As a Junior Sister it is essential you hold a recognised qualification in SACT administration and have completed the Practice Assessor accreditation, as teaching and supporting junior staff and students is an essential part of the role.
You will also need to be highly motivated and able to demonstrate excellent clinical and interpersonal skills.
Our working hours are 07:30-20:15/19:30-08:15 with expectation that you will rotate onto nights/weekends to cover a 7-day service.
As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.
