We are looking for a Shift Technician with a Mechanical/Plumbing Background to join a reputable engineering services provider in London, known for delivering high-quality maintenance and building services across commercial and mixed-use properties.

About the Role
In this role, you will help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of building services systems as part of the MSD maintenance contract.
Key responsibilities include
- Undertaking planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and small-scale project works in line with SLAs.
- Responding swiftly to breakdowns and maintenance requests.
- Diagnosing faults and completing repairs at first attempt where possible, escalating complex issues when necessary.
- Monitoring plant and system performance and communicating any required downtime to relevant stakeholders.
- Ordering and checking spare parts or suitable replacements to ensure compliance with standards.
- Carrying out risk assessments before starting tasks and raising any safety concerns promptly.
- Keeping plant rooms, tools, and work areas safe, clean, and well organised.
- Working flexibly to cover shift patterns, including overtime when required.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain mechanical, plumbing, and building services systems.
- Conduct first-line fault finding and emergency response duties.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental procedures, including COSHH.
- Maintain accurate records of all operational activities for audit purposes.
- Support senior engineers and site management in meeting operational and maintenance goals.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in building services maintenance or engineering.
- Competent in mechanical and electrical maintenance, including plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems.
- Strong understanding of safe working practices and risk assessments.
- Familiar with electronic reporting and IT-based maintenance systems.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Positive, proactive, and team-focused approach.
Qualifications
- City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Air Conditioning & Refrigeration.
- ONC/HNC in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
- NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline.
- Recognised EITB Maintenance and Operations Engineering Apprenticeship (MOET) or equivalent advantageous.
