Shift Production Manager

Location: Liverpool
Salary: £61,699 (including shift allowances), rising to £65,328 upon probation completion
Hours: 35 hours per week, shift-based (including nights and weekends on a 24/7 rota)

Are you a Production Manager/Engineering Manager with fleet maintenance experience? Whether you're looking for your first role in the rail industry or are already working in Rolling Stock and seeking a new opportunity.

We're hiring a Shift Production Manager, working on state‑of‑the‑art Rolling Stock. You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and daily performance as part of one of the UK's leading rail engineering organisations.

We encourage applications from all backgrounds, including those currently working in the RAF, REME, Avionics, FMCG, Offshore, Navy, Army, and other equipment‑focused industries. If you have transferable skills, we're interested in you.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Head of Production by leading and coordinating teams of technical staff (e.g. technicians, fitters and assistants) to deliver work on rolling stock.
  • Management of performance regime to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Support the development and implementation of standards and procedures in accordance with legal, legislative and moral obligations.
  • Oversee reporting for example on safety failures and incidents and various management reports.
  • Foster a zero‑harm culture within the production function by prioritising the safety of both people and products at all levels.
  • Effectively deputise for the Head of Production on a short to medium‑term basis.
  • Deliver on the job quality inspections, reporting procedures and liaison with necessary stakeholders.
  • Ensure that trains which go into service are safe, reliable and compliant with company procedures (e.g. VMI, VOI).
  • Allocation of work to staff in accordance with maintenance plans (including work arising and enhanced work as required).
What we're looking for
  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship (minimum Level 3, City & Guilds / BTEC) with Electrical, Mechanical, or electronic bias, ideally a HNC/HND.
  • Experienced leading Teams in maintenance engineering, production environments of fleets of vehicles or similar equipment.
  • Confidence in solving technical problems and collaborating across teams.
