Overview

TipTopJob – Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Commutable from Stevenage, Hitchin, Luton, Biggleswade, St. Neots, Welwyn, Ware, Royston. Role: Multi-skilled Engineer (electrically biased) on a shift pattern.

Client: a leading food manufacturer, part of a global group with multiple sites in the UK. They are recruiting several multi-skilled shift engineers for a succession plan.

Location: Hertfordshire (SG1).

Salary: GBP 50,000. Shifts: 12-hour shifts with a pattern of 2 Days / 2 Nights / 4 Off. Benefits include pension and other schemes described below.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance of high-speed production and packaging machinery.
  • Work on control panels, HMIs, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding, problem solving and repairs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects.
  • Deal with motors, VSDs, servo drives, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, inverters.
  • Mechanical fabrication, fitting, welding.
  • Upkeep and alteration of electrical and mechanical drawings.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Multi-skilled engineer, ideally electrically biased.
  • NVQ Level 3 engineering or maintenance minimum.
  • Ideally HNC / HND qualification.
  • Experience in fast-paced / FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, automation/control systems, HMIs.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to help in all areas of the team.
  • Experience with motors, inverters, VSDs, sensors, switches, pneumatics, gearboxes.
  • Experience with high-speed production and packaging machinery is desirable.
