Qualifications

Shift E&I Technician
Widnes, Cheshire | 6-Month FTC | 12-Hour Shifts | 4 on / 6 off, 4 on / 4 off

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a Shift E&I Technician to join our client, a highly regulated manufacturer based in Widnes, Cheshire. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract offering the opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplined team supporting production operations.

Key Duties
  • Performing planned maintenance and overhauls on plant equipment and site facilities.
  • Responding to breakdowns and carrying out reactive repairs.
  • Installing new equipment and modifying existing systems where required.
  • Conducting testing, inspection, and reporting on plant condition according to schedules.
  • Sourcing materials for maintenance tasks in line with procedures.
  • Using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to record task history and ensure job continuity.
Requirements
  • HNC or higher qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations certification.
  • Proven experience in a similar industry environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) practices.
  • Experience with instrumentation calibration and maintenance (level, flow, pressure, temperature, pH).
  • Understanding of motors and motor control circuits.
  • Familiarity with inverter drives and industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience using a CMMS (e.g. Avantis, SAP).
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel).
  • Valid FLT (Counterbalance) and MEWP licence.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Siemens S7 PLCs (Step7 / TIA Portal).
  • Knowledge of Profinet, Profibus, and HART protocols.
