Qualifications

Your main responsibilities

Join us as a Service Technician (Night Shift), where you will play a key role in maintaining and servicing lift and escalator equipment across your assigned portfolio.

This is a permanent night shift role, operating on a 4 on 4 off pattern, working 7 PM - 7 AM.

What you'll be doing:
  • Carrying out routine servicing of lift/escalator equipment, including minor repair work and the routine replacement of components, in accordance with approved company procedures (PPE, PDA, Expert+, etc.)
  • Rectifying and reducing faults on lift/escalator equipment in cases of breakdown and checking to confirm correct functioning
  • Checking the lift/escalator function as part of maintenance; checks to include speed, motor start/stop, weight, noise, temperature, and power supplies using approved company-issued tooling and protective equipment
  • Carrying out the routine inspection and adjustment of lift/escalator equipment in accordance with approved procedures
  • Reinstating lift/escalator equipment and completing service documentation
  • Carrying out more advanced fault-finding and diagnostic procedures using a range of techniques, technical manuals, and appropriate test equipment, restoring equipment to service. Competence is required to make effective use of written or graphical information
  • Carrying out site surveys and attending all relevant training sessions to keep up to date on technical knowledge and skills
  • Working in accordance with the Company’s safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements, as well as setting a personal example of safe behaviour
  • Contributing to the Company safety objectives, where necessary, by maintaining/monitoring current safety systems under your direct control and implementing agreed changes (where applicable) to its safety management system
What you bring
  • Experience in lift/escalator servicing, maintenance, or repairs preferred
  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 minimum in lift/escalator maintenance or equivalent
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical knowledge, including experience with multi-brand equipment
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and achieve efficiency targets
  • Ability to work independently with a flexible approach
  • Good communication skills at all levels (clients, service leaders, inspectors)
  • Manual dexterity — requires the use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools, and to record written information
  • Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Good administration skills and punctuality
  • Full UK driving licence
