Job description

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Knowsley to assist with the appointment of a Service Manager on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. The Service Manager for Inclusion is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic management of employees, financial resources, and physical assets within the Inclusion service area. Working as part of the Senior Management Team within Childrens Services, the post-holder ensures the Council fulfills its statutory duties regarding the SEND Code of Practice and supported transport. A primary focus of the role is to drive service improvements, identify efficiencies, and contribute to the borough's wider education improvement and SEND Implementation Plan.

Responsibilities
  • Providing direct line management to team managers, conducting appraisals, and overseeing induction, supervision, and disciplinary procedures
  • Leading the development and delivery of services to meet OFSTED and CQC frameworks (Joint Area SEND Inspections)
  • Working with internal and external partners, including Head Teachers and health/social care organizations, to agree on joint priorities and improve outcomes for service users
  • Ensuring physical resources meet Health and Safety standards and monitoring sickness absence to manage Local Authority risk
  • Contributing to the corporate management of the department and deputising for the Head of Service when required
Essentials
  • A recognized professional qualification in Social Care, Education, or an equivalent field is essential
