The Hiring Manager for this vacancy is Richard Prentice. As a Electrical Service Maintenance Technician at Tesco across Dudley, Lichfield and Wolverhampton areas, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You'll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly. Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You'll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality. This is a hands‑on role that requires a proactive mindset, strong problem‑solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high standards. Responsibilities
  • Confidently interact with external contractors: coordinating repairs seamlessly.

  • Assist the management team: keeping our stores operating smoothly by maintaining equipment and facilities.
  • Minimise customer disruption: coordinating repairs with minimal impact on our valued customers.
  • Ensuring all Tesco sites are a safe and functioning environment for customers and colleagues.
  • Following the planned work schedule to achieve first‑time fix, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Working closely with team members, sharing best practice and knowledge.
  • General day‑to‑day store and property maintenance.
  • Using mobile devices—phone and tablet to drive the best approach in work completion and updates.
  • Representing the Tesco brand by demonstrating our core values (serving our customers, communities and planet a little better every day), maintaining a positive attitude and taking pride in wearing the Tesco uniform.
  • Attending local and national meetings, providing valuable input and feedback.
  • Supporting a diverse and inclusive culture.

As a vital part of our Maintenance team, you will demonstrate enthusiasm for maintaining high standards. With previous experience in a maintenance, engineering, or construction environment, you will be digitally confident using a tablet to view daily work schedules and manage emails.

Operational Skills
  • Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or improver programme or trade proficiency test / relevant trade experience.
  • Basic diagnostics: PCB/Microprocessor / HMI controlled systems / equipment.
  • Electrical safety circuit – basic working knowledge, fault finding and replacement.
  • EICR remedial knowledge.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Health & safety awareness.
  • Communication & stakeholder management.
  • Office 365 knowledge, City & Guilds Level 3 – Electrical (or equivalent).
  • Apprenticeship/Improver programme.
  • EICR remedial works experience.
Preferable Qualifications
  • City & Guilds Inspection & Testing.
  • ECoPs.
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition.
  • MEWP/IPAF licence.
