Overview
Job Title: Service Engineer. Job Type: Permanent, Full Time. Location: Mobile role covering sites across the West & East Midlands with some wider UK travel. Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum (£24.04 - £26.44 per hour). Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (40 hours per week).
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Gas Service / Breakdown Engineer to carry out service, maintenance and repairs on a range of commercial and domestic gas appliances and heating systems. The role involves fault finding, diagnosing, repairing, and ensuring compliance with current gas and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain gas appliances in commercial and domestic properties.
- Carry out boiler fault finding, diagnosis, and repairs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Perform servicing and safety checks on heating systems to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Install commercial boilers and associated plant equipment.
- Attend responsive maintenance and breakdown call-outs, ensuring high first-time fix rates.
- Make decisions on additional or unexpected repair requirements and communicate effectively with management/clients.
- Ensure all works are completed safely and in line with current codes and practices.
- Accurately complete all required documentation and reports.
- Take a proactive approach in identifying and quoting for additional works when required.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, PPE and property in good condition.
- Work within company policies, health & safety procedures and client site regulations.
Requirements
- Strong experience in the commercial gas sector, including analysing, fault finding, service, repair and maintenance.
- Working knowledge of test equipment including electrical multi-meters.
- Flexible approach with willingness to travel across multiple sites.
- Willingness to work additional hours when required (overtime payable).
- Participation in the emergency call-out rota (1 in 6-8 weeks).
- Professional and positive attitude with good communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
