We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive senior technician to join our dynamic technical operations team, which strives to provide a sector leading technical support for FSE and the wider University. With a commitment to customer service excellence and a passion for science and engineering, senior technicians will provide an agile technical support service to staff and students to support teaching, research and professional services. FSE’s research and teaching quality is recognised globally; this is an exciting opportunity to join us in Manchester and contribute to the provision of a sector leading technical service.

Responsibilities
  • Based in one of the faculty’s main workshops, you will produce a wide range of precision components for staff and students, using an extensive range of machine tools and equipment.
  • You may be required to carry out site visits to labs across FSE, providing design advice and guidance on new experimental rigs to staff and students, and overseeing the construction of these rigs.
  • You may also be required to demonstrate in practical workshop sessions and support the faculty’s student workshops.
  • Supervision of junior staff, such as workshop technicians, may be required when working on particular projects.
