Immunocore is seeking a Senior Scientist I in Characterisation within the CMC group in Oxford. You will lead peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass analyses to characterise biotherapeutics, support impurity work, and contribute to method development for ImmTAX products.

You will work in a bench-based biopharma lab, documenting results, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating across departments to ensure successful development and transfer of analytical methods.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC-based peptide mapping methods and MS characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience in glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Proven expertise in electrophoretic, chromatographic or mass spectrometry methods.
• Experience in assay development and GMP context familiarity.

Responsabilités

• Characterise proteins using peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass analysis.
• Support drug substance and drug product impurity characterisation and identification.
• Develop characterisation methods for ImmTAX and other products.
• Design and perform biochemical characterisation, chemical stability and comparability studies.
• Write study protocols and reports; present findings to teams and partners.
• Mentor colleagues and provide technical guidance; share new techniques and insights.
• Maintain up-to-date laboratory records and ensure proper use of equipment.
• Contribute to process development through characterisation of intermediates.
