Job summary

Immunocore is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to join the CMC team in the Oxford area. The role focuses on developing and applying peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass spectrometry to characterise biopharmaceutical products, including impurities and post-translational modifications.

The candidate will contribute to process development, stability studies, and method development for ImmTAX and related products, communicating results to senior management and partners.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Experienced in the characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Established as an expert in electrophoretic, chromatographic, or mass spectrometry techniques.
• Experienced in assay development.
• Familiar with biopharmaceutical stability study principles.

Responsibilities

• Characterise drug substance and drug product impurities and identify them.
• Perform protein sequence and post-translational modification identification.
• Characterise process intermediates to support drug substance and drug product development.
• Develop characterisation methods for ImmTAX and related products (peptide mapping and intact mass analysis).
• Design and conduct biochemical characterisation, chemical stability, and comparability studies of biologics/drug products.
• Contribute to writing study protocols and reports.
• Independently test and, where possible, lead lines of investigation; propose new experiments.
