Job summary

Immunocore Ltd in Oxford seeks a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to develop and apply HPLC peptide mapping and mass spectrometry for recombinant proteins and antibodies. You will support impurity characterisation, glycosylation analysis, and process development, with opportunities to mentor and advance characterisation methods across ImmTAX products.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expert in electrophoretic, chromatographic or mass spectrometry techniques.
• Experienced in assay development.
• Knowledge of stability study principles and interpretation.
• Collaborative in diverse teams; ability to drive change and present findings.

Responsibilities

• Characterise biotherapeutics using LC-MS/MS and peptide mapping.
• Support impurity characterisation and identification of drug substance/product.
• Perform glycosylation and PTM analyses on recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Characterise process intermediates to aid development.
• Develop characterisation methods for ImmTAX and related products.
• Design biochemical characterisation and stability/comparability studies.
• Contribute to study protocols and reports; present results to teams and partners.
• Independently run experiments, mentor colleagues, and guide new work.
• Set priorities for own work and team projects with evidence-based decisions.
• Share knowledge across departments; ensure high-quality lab records and safe practices.
