Job summary

Immunocore seeks a Senior Scientist I for Characterisation within CMC in Oxford. You will advance protein characterisation using LC-MS/MS, glycosylation analysis, and mass spectrometry to support drug substance/product development.

You will work in a bench-based biopharma environment, coordinate testing, and contribute to protocols and reports while mentoring teammates and sharing insights with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Experienced in the characterisation of proteins expressed in both microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Worked in a bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory environment.
• Established as an expert amongst peers in electrophoretic/chromatographic/mass spectrometry.
• Experienced in assay development.
• Familiar with biopharmaceutical stability study principles and interpretation thereof.

Responsibilities

• Characterise biopharmaceutical products using peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass analysis.
• Support drug substance and product impurity characterisation and identification.
• Lead characterisation of process intermediates for substance and product.
• Develop characterisation methods for ImmTAX and other products, including LC-MS/MS.
• Design and perform biochemical characterisation, chemical stability, and comparability studies.
• Contribute to study protocols and reports; communicate results to stakeholders.
• Mentor colleagues and share knowledge across the department.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure data integrity.
• Provide technical guidance on instrument use and data interpretation.
• Present findings to internal teams and partners.
