Job summary

Immunocore seeks a Senior Scientist I to lead characterisation of biotherapeutics at its Oxford site. You will apply peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and mass spectrometry to support drug substance and product development, working with both microbial and mammalian expression systems.

You will drive glycosylation analyses, develop characterization methods, and contribute to stability and comparability studies, mentoring colleagues and ensuring rigorous records.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC based peptide mapping methods and MS characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Experienced in characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expert in electrophoretic, chromatographic, or mass spectrometry areas.

Responsibilities

• Characterise biotherapeutics using peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass spectrometry.
• Support impurity characterisation and identification for drug substance/product.
• Contribute to development of characterisation methods and process intermediates.
• Design and perform biochemical characterisation, stability and comparability studies.
• Prepare study protocols and reports; mentor junior colleagues.
• Present findings to internal teams and partners; ensure quality records.
