Job summary

Immunocore is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation within CMC to advance biopharmaceutical characterisation methods for ImmTAX and related biologics. You will perform LC-MS/MS peptide mapping, mass spectrometry analyses, and glycosylation studies, contributing to impurity analysis and process development to ensure product quality.

The role requires bench-based experience in protein biochemistry, robust data interpretation, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC-based peptide mapping methods and MS characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expert in electrophoretic, chromatographic and mass spectrometry techniques.
• Experience in assay development.
• Familiar with stability study principles in biopharma.
• Presented detailed scientific findings to internal/external audiences.

Responsibilities

• Characterise proteins using peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass spectrometry.
• Support drug substance/product impurity characterisation and identification.
• Contribute to development of characterisation methods for ImmTAX and related products.
• Lead lines of investigation and mentor colleagues as needed.
• Ensure laboratory records, equipment use, and safety policies are followed.
