Job summary

Immunocore seeks a Senior Scientist I in Characterisation to advance biotherapeutic analysis, including peptide mapping via LC-MS/MS and intact mass measurements. You will support impurity characterisation, process development, and method development for ImmTAX and related products, mentoring junior staff and contributing to reports.

The role emphasizes high-quality analytical work in a GMP-adjacent setting, with collaboration across teams and strong emphasis on data integrity and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC-based peptide mapping methods.
• MS-based characterisation of recombinant proteins/antibodies.
• Glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins from microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of post-translational modifications.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expertise in electrophoretic, chromatographic or mass spectrometry techniques.

Responsibilities

• Characterise biotherapeutics using peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass analysis.
• Support impurity characterisation of drug substance and product.
• Develop characterisation methods for ImmTAX and other products.
• Lead containment of process intermediates and related studies.
• Write study protocols and reports; communicate findings to teams.
• Mentor colleagues and share technical knowledge across departments.
• Ensure laboratory records and equipment use are up to standard.
