Job summary

Immunocore is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to join our CMC team in Oxford. You will develop and validate HPLC-based peptide mapping methods, perform mass spectrometry characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies, and contribute to stability studies and protein bioassays.

You will coordinate extensive testing, document experimental results, and mentor junior scientists while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to advance our biotherapeutic programs.

Qualifications

• Essential: BSc or MSc in biochemistry, biotechnology or related discipline.
• Essential: Experience in development of HPLC based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Essential: Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Experienced in the characterisation of proteins expressed in both microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate HPLC-based peptide mapping methods and MS characterisation.
• Contribute to characterisation methods for biopharmaceutical products (peptide mapping, intact mass).
• Design and run biochemical characterisation, stability, and comparability studies of biologics.
• Prepare study protocols and reports; present findings to teams and partners.
• Mentor colleagues and share methods across departments.
