Job summary

Immunocore is seeking a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation to join our Oxford team. You will lead biochemical characterisation and mass spectrometry analyses of recombinant proteins and antibodies, including peptide mapping and PTM analysis.

You will coordinate extensive testing, contribute to method development, and mentor colleagues while collaborating across diverse teams in a bench-based biopharmaceutical environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Experienced in the characterisation of proteins expressed in both microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Worked in a bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory environment.
• Established as an expert amongst peers in electrophoretic, chromatographic, or mass spectrometry techniques.
• Experienced in assay development.
• Familiar with biopharmaceutical stability study principles and interpretation.
• Collaborative in diverse teams; able to drive improvements and present findings.

Responsibilities

• Characterisation of proteins and biopharmaceutical products using LC-MS/MS and related methods.
• Design and perform biochemical characterisation, chemical stability and comparability studies.
• Contribute to study protocols and reports and present findings to teams and partners.
• Mentor colleagues and share technical knowledge across departments.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and provide guidance on equipment use.
• Communicate results at meetings with senior management.
