Job summary

Immunocore is hiring a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation within CMC in the Oxford area. The role focuses on developing and applying peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and mass spectrometry to characterise recombinant proteins and antibodies, including glycosylation analysis and PTMs.

You will contribute to method development, stability studies, and cross-functional collaboration across teams. Experience in bench-based biopharmaceutical labs, assay development, and data presentation is essential.

Qualifications

• Developed HPLC peptide mapping methods and MS characterisation of recombinant proteins/antibodies.
• Glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory experience.
• Expert in electrophoretic, chromatographic, or mass spectrometry techniques.
• Experienced in assay development.
• Familiar with stability study principles.
• Presented detailed findings to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

• Independently testing and, increasingly, leading lines of investigation; proposing new experiments.
• Designing and carrying out biochemical characterisation, chemical stability and comparability studies.
• Contribute to writing study protocols and reports.
• Communicate and present research findings at meetings with colleagues and partners.
• Adhere to safe working practices in laboratories per EHS policies.
• Provide technical guidance on laboratory equipment and techniques.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and data management.
