Job summary

Immunocore is hiring a Senior Scientist I - Characterisation within CMC in Oxford. The role focuses on developing and applying analytical methods for protein/biologics characterisation, including peptide mapping (LC-MS/MS) and intact mass analysis.

Qualifications

• Experience in development of HPLC-based peptide mapping methods and mass spectrometric characterisation of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Experience of glycosylation analysis of recombinant proteins or antibodies.
• Independently coordinated extensive testing of protein biomolecules.
• Characterisation of proteins expressed in microbial and mammalian systems.
• Understanding of expected post-translational modifications in biological systems.
• Bench-based biopharmaceutical laboratory environment experience.
• Expert in electrophoretic, chromatographic or mass spectrometry techniques.
• Experience in assay development.
• Familiar with biopharmaceutical stability study principles and interpretation thereof.
• Worked and contributed actively in diverse team environments.
• Proposed and driven changes in working practices to improve efficiency and collaboration.
• Presented detailed scientific findings to internal and external audiences.

Responsibilities

• Characterise drug substance and product using LC-MS/MS and other analytical techniques.
• Develop and optimise peptide mapping and mass spec characterisation methods.
• Support process development by characterising intermediates and products.
• Contribute to method development for ImmTAX and related products.
• Design and perform biochemical characterisation, stability studies and comparability work.
• Collaborate on study protocols and reports; present findings to teams and partners.
• Mentor colleagues and share technical insights across departments.
• Ensure accurate laboratory records and adherence to EHS policies.
