They are currently recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the National Grid’s Great Grid Upgrade – the largest overhaul of the UK electricity network in generations. This programme is part of National Grid’s £30bn investment across England and Wales over the next four years, connecting renewable energy sources to homes and businesses, modernising critical electrical infrastructure, and supporting the UK’s transition to net zero.

  • Monitor project costs, provide early warnings, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure profitability.
  • Maintain excellent client relationships and act as a trusted commercial advisor.
  • Coordinate with contractors and multidisciplinary teams to resolve commercial issues.
  • Mentor and develop junior QS staff, supporting career progression within the consultancy.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives by supporting repeat or new client opportunities.
Candidate Criteria

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop junior QS team members.
  • Based in Birmingham or the surrounding area, with the flexibility to work remotely and occasionally travel to client or project locations as required.
