Job summary

A leading engineering support firm in the UK is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for a site-based role on a SIP project in Runcorn. Responsibilities include managing the commercial aspects of insulation and scaffolding works, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, and preparing cost claims. Ideal candidates will have proven quantity surveying experience, strong commercial awareness, and proficiency in relevant software. Immediate availability is required for this 4-5 months position.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial support for a SIP project in the final stages on a chemical site in Runcorn. This role is site-based and requires immediate availability. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team to ensure commercial optimisation of insulation and scaffolding works and support the preparation of the final account.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and administer commercial aspects of insulation and scaffolding works, including re-measurements and variations.
  • Review and revalidate insulation estimates against current project requirements and ISO revisions.
  • Administer daywork scaffolding contracts and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Identify and maximise opportunities for commercial gain on a schedule of rates basis.
  • Liaise with client and project team to resolve commercial disputes or claims.
  • Prepare, review, and submit variation proposals and cost claims.
  • Support final account preparation at project completion.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all commercial activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company and client contractual requirements.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally on industrial, chemical, or SIP projects.
  • Strong experience with schedule of rates contracts and daywork administration.
  • Competent in estimating, re-measurement, and valuation of variations.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to maximise project profitability.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in commercial software and MS Office applications.
  • Immediate availability and willingness to be site-based for 4–5 months.
