Job description
Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)

Contract: Permanent. Full-Time 37.5 hours per week

Haringey Talking Therapies service is a thriving, dynamic service committed to excellence in its delivery of psychological interventions in Haringey's multi‑cultural, multi‑lingual community. Responsibilities
  • Deliver weekly case management supervision to a team of PWPs
  • Deliver clinical skills training to Trainee PWPs
  • Work on service developments as needed
  • Conduct clinical work with an adjusted caseload
  • Work with the Outreach Lead in delivering workshops, liaising and engaging with community groups and services
  • Offer screening supervision after first triage
  • Work within a large established team of CBT therapists, PWPs & counsellors
  • Work one late shift per week (12 to 8 pm)
  • Offer hybrid work; two days on site, three days from home each week
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Support staff in their management of patients with mental health needs
  • Provide clinical supervision to PWPs, trainee PWPs and other unqualified step‑2 workers
  • Screen new referrals to the service and liaise with secondary care mental health services and social care departments
  • Manage a reduced caseload of clients with mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression
  • Assist patient referral to other services as appropriate
  • Provide a range of evidence‑based brief interventions using guided self‑help methods
  • Ensure work is patient‑focussed, responsive to need and culturally competent and sensitive
  • Assist in the running of self‑help groups, activities and use of self‑help material and information
  • Engage health and social care professionals, promote the service and deliver psycho‑educational workshops to various groups
  • Assist in developing new referral ideas and evidence‑based psycho‑educational interventions to further the Service’s need for outreach and engagement
Qualifications & Experience
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Evidence‑Based Low Intensity Psychological Treatments (Talking Therapies NHS approved)
  • Minimum of one year post‑qualification PWP experience
  • PWP supervisor training (desirable)

  • Educated to degree level
  • Qualified (through formal PG Cert Training) Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience of delivering workshops and public speaking
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting to small and large audiences
  • Significant consolidated post‑qualifying experience with people with common mental health problems
  • Ability to learn at a post‑graduate level
  • Understanding of mental health issues
  • Experience of working with other agencies, statutory and voluntary
  • Experience of working in primary care
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of working in a multicultural setting
  • Experience supervising others in a therapeutic setting (e.g. clinical supervision or clinical skills)
  • Experience in marketing, communications and/or promotion
  • Reading, writing, speaking in Turkish or any of the most common languages spoken in the borough
Skills & Abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in one‑to‑one and group situations
  • Work independently and effectively within a small team
  • Ability to secure health information from relevant specialists to inform assessment processes
  • Well‑organised and willing to learn new computer skills rapidly

  • Ensure familiarity with and compliance to local protocols and systems for information sharing
