A leading engineering consultancy in Sheffield is seeking a Senior / Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer to lead hazards assessments and author safety cases for nuclear facilities. Your purpose:
On a typical day in this role, you might be leading a team to produce a hazards assessment or authoring a complex safety case, justifying and supporting the critical decision-making in the design, operation, and/or decommissioning of nuclear facilities. You may also influence the client's strategic direction to help obtain a nuclear site licence for their innovative design, network to develop the business pipeline within your capability, or deliver a technical presentation to the regulator.
This role provides opportunities to work with diverse clients from defence, nuclear and nuclear new build, including innovative players from the fusion and SMR markets. You will be keen to lead technical delivery of projects, address technically complex problems, and present solutions to different stakeholders. You will have the drive to deliver excellent technical work with attention to detail while keeping the bigger picture in view.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to and learn from the wider technical community within AtkinsRéalis, leveraging global expertise to foster collaboration within multidisciplinary engineering teams. You will also play a vital role in developing and mentoring junior engineers to support growth and improve project delivery capability, while strengthening your leadership skills.
