We have an increasing portfolio of projects in the energy and industrial sectors, and we are looking for an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer to join our Global multidisciplinary Industry and Infrastructure Facilities team. Working as part of the team, you’ll be expected to lead the structural design of buildings on our projects in the energy and industrial sectors. This role includes responsibility for supporting the upskilling of team members, developing innovative solutions, ensuring structural integrity, and optimizing designs.

The role is primarily office-based (with opportunities for hybrid working) located within one of our structural engineering teams in Manchester, London, Leeds, Chester, Southampton, or Bristol. Occasional travel to client and project sites will be required.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing structural engineering projects from conception to completion.
  • Following project delivery models such as FEED/FEL, DED, OE stages.
  • Analyzing and designing structural systems for energy and industrial facilities, including manufacturing and production buildings, substations, power stations/energy centers, and other infrastructure.
  • Conducting structural analysis and detailed design to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Developing engineering solutions to enhance structural performance and optimize costs.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations specific to energy and industrial sectors.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including architectural, process, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
  • Preparing technical documentation, reports, and proposals.
  • Mentoring and upskilling junior engineers.
  • Staying updated with industry trends and technologies.
  • Supporting business development and tender activities.

Qualifications & experience required for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Chartered Engineer with IStructE or ICE membership.
  • Minimum of 7 years (senior/principal) or 10 years (associate) of industry experience in structural engineering, including energy and industrial projects such as substation buildings.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations relevant to energy and industrial sectors.

Skills and competencies required for the role:

  • Strong knowledge of structural design principles, materials, and construction methods.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as ETABS, TSD, Robot, or similar.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong project management and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Technical expertise in structural engineering concepts and practices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and structural modeling.
