Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Senior or Principal Power & Lighting Engineer to provide technical leadership on major infrastructure projects across the UK. This role involves delivering high-quality electrical designs, ensuring compliance with UK regulations, and supporting sustainable infrastructure solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in electrical and lighting standards, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in relevant design software. Hybrid working is available across key UK offices.

Qualifications

• Strong experience working to British electrical and lighting standards (BS5489, BS EN 13201, BS7671).
• Experience of lighting and electrical design for road and transport environments.
• Proficient in lighting and electrical design software (Lighting Reality, DIALux, Amtech).
• Excellent technical report writing and documentation skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Proactive, problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on electrical and lighting design.
• Deliver high-quality designs from feasibility through to construction support.
• Ensure compliance with relevant UK regulations.
• Act as technical lead within multidisciplinary design teams.
• Produce electrical and lighting designs for various stages.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and contract documentation.
• Manage programme activities and monitor design costs.
