Job summary

The company in Manchester is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the deployment architecture across our on-premise estate and shape our new Kubernetes platform. You will own CI/CD pipelines, guardrails, and migration strategies to deliver value safely and rapidly to production.

In this hands-on role you will collaborate with Engineering and TechOps, drive best practices, and document runbooks to enable self-service for developers. A pragmatic, security-conscious mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a people-first culture.
• Extensive experience with Ansible: roles, inventories, vault, idempotency.
• Production experience with Docker and Docker Compose.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Strong scripting abilities in Bash and Python.
• Experience with GitOps tooling: ArgoCD or Flux.
• Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Alertmanager).
• Ability to plan pragmatically and drive iterative delivery using existing stack.
• Security-conscious with methodical approach.

Responsibilities

• Own deployment architecture and CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes-based workloads.
• Collaborate with TechOps and platform teams to design self-service workflows and guardrails.
• Standardise configurations in namespaces for ingress, RBAC, and secrets management.
• Migrate workloads to Kubernetes, starting with non-critical environments.
• Build robust deployment pipelines with Helm, Kustomize, ArgoCD or equivalent.
• Implement application observability and runbooks for onboarding and self-service.
• Create developer documentation and templates for deployment practices.
