We are seeking a Senior Planning Engineer to join our industrial and manufacturing team in Sheffield, United Kingdom. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimising the planning and scheduling of complex manufacturing projects, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies for industrial and manufacturing projects
- Analyse project requirements, technical drawings, and specifications to create detailed work breakdown structures
- Utilise advanced planning and scheduling software to monitor project progress and identify potential bottlenecks or delays
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of project goals and timelines
- Implement and maintain lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders
- Identify and mitigate risks that may impact project timelines or budgets
- Mentor junior planning engineers and provide technical guidance to the team
- Contribute to the development and improvement of planning processes and best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in planning engineering within industrial and manufacturing environments
- Advanced knowledge of planning and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project)
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in project management and resource allocation
- In-depth knowledge of industrial and manufacturing processes
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Professional certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is desirable
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
