Job Overview
The United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is the national and global expert in health security. Within the Operations team, under the Public Health Microbiology directorate, the Novel and Dangerous Pathogens training team designs and delivers scientific and safety training for scientists. The post holder will create and develop high‑quality digital training content for biosafety and biosecurity both internally and on a commercial basis to support UKHSA’s national, commercial and international projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and development of e‑learning training in biosafety and biosecurity.
- Review and update existing digital training packages.
- Support other team members in the creation, development and review of e‑learning training.
- Responsible for stakeholder communications.
- Ensure project targets are met.
- Implement techniques to support all team training activities.
- Provide in‑person training in biosafety and biosecurity.
- Participate in mandatory training as required (e.g. DSE, information governance, safeguarding).
- Identify, discuss, and take action on own professional performance and training needs with line manager.
- Perform any additional duties required by the line manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in creating digital training content (e.g. Articulate, Kallidus, Absorb).
- Digital competency in content creation and online training.
- Leading project teams or projects.
- Scientific background in microbiology, virology, immunology or molecular biology.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience communicating and engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working within a regulated environment (e.g. ISO 9001).
- Understanding of counter‑terrorism check and basic personnel security standard.
- UK residency or required clearance for Counter‑terrorist Check.
Desirable Role Criteria
- Specialised digital content creation in biosafety or biosecurity.
- Experience in the training/teaching sector, including online training material maintenance.
- Experience providing biosafety or biosecurity training, digital or in‑person.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong digital and scientific skills.
- Good presentation skills (5‑10 minute presentation to assess communication ability).
- Capability to work within a regulated environment.
