Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health Team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. Ideally the candidate needs to be a car driver due to the location of the prison.

HMP Wymott has a capacity of around 1,100 and hosts a varied and complex population.

You will work as part of a mental health team of 14, whose offices are within the Healthcare department, but clinics will also be based on the wings.

Hours:
  • Monday - Sunday – 37.5 hours per week
  • 8am - 4pm
  • 1 in 4 weekends
  • 4 week rolling rota
Salary:

This position is full time; you’ll receive an annual salary between £43,609 – £49,175 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job
  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients' mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social, and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to provide outstanding evidence‑based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to, and acting on their feedback so that care is personalized and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non‑judgmental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patients’ care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.
