Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Water team in the UK, delivering innovative solutions across major infrastructure projects. The role offers broad project exposure, technology leadership, and mentoring opportunities within a collaborative environment.

The position supports hybrid working, with offices in Bristol, Birmingham, Exeter, Derby, Cardiff or Swansea, and a focus on sustainable water infrastructure delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or Incorporated with IMechE or eligible to become chartered within 12 months.
• Experience leading technical delivery in water sector or transferable industry.
• Strong communication and team leadership skills.
• Commitment to innovation, sustainability and technical excellence.
• Experience designing mechanical equipment such as pumps, blowers, screens, and dosing systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of mechanical engineering solutions for water resource projects through all stages.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated, sustainable solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians.
• Develop and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings, and design packages.
• Build relationships with project teams, clients, stakeholders and partners.
• Contribute to innovation and adoption of new technologies.
• Identify opportunities to create value for clients and communities.
