Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Water team in the UK. You will lead mechanical delivery for water resource projects, mentor engineers, and work with multidisciplinary teams on feasible studies, asset improvements, and major capital programmes.

This role offers hybrid working with 3 days in office, across our major offices including Birmingham and Bristol, and opportunities to shape innovative and sustainable water infrastructure across the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or Incorporated status with IMechE or ability to become chartered within 12 months.
• Proven experience leading mechanical delivery in water sector or transferable field.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with collaborative approach.
• Commitment to innovation, sustainability and technical excellence.
• Experience with integration of mechanical equipment (pumps, blowers, screens, dosing systems).

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of mechanical engineering solutions for water resource projects across all lifecycle stages.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated, sustainable solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians.
• Develop and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings, and design packages.
• Build relationships with project teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Contribute to innovation and adoption of new technologies.
• Identify opportunities to add value for clients and communities.
