Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior or Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Water team in the UK. You will lead mechanical delivery for water resource projects, mentor engineers, and work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable solutions across major schemes.

This role involves hybrid working, with progression opportunities as you influence projects from feasibility through delivery and strengthen client relationships, including Thames Water and Anglian Water programmes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or Incorporated with IMechE or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• Proven experience leading technical delivery in water sector or transferable industries.
• Strong communication and team leadership skills.
• Experience in design integration of mechanical equipment (pumps, blowers, screens, dosing systems).

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of mechanical engineering solutions for water resource projects through all lifecycle stages.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated, sustainable outcomes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technicians.
• Develop and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, drawings and design packages.
• Build strong relationships with project teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Contribute to innovation and adoption of new technologies.
• Identify opportunities to create additional value for clients and communities.
