A leading engineering consultancy in the UK is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of innovative battery systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in SolidWorks and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the mechanical design sector. This role involves mentoring junior engineers and ensuring high-quality mechanical designs that meet industry standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' mechanical design experience within product development or a manufacturing environment.
• Strong SolidWorks capability including assemblies, surfacing, configurations and technical drawings.
• Proven experience designing injection-moulded components, with solid DFM/DFA understanding.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development of lithium-based battery systems including enclosures and housings.
• Design plastic injection-moulded components and metal fabricated parts to meet performance requirements.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings in SolidWorks.
