Job summary

A leading civil engineering specialist is seeking a Senior HSQE Manager to lead its operations across the UK. The role is hybrid based in Hertfordshire, requiring travel within the UK. The ideal candidate will have over five years' experience in health and safety, strong knowledge of civil engineering, and a proactive approach to HSQE. Responsibilities include leading HSQE initiatives, conducting audits, and fostering a strong safety culture within the organization. A NEBOSH Diploma and a full UK driving license are required.

Lead / Senior HSQE Manager

£70,000 - £80,000 plus package car allowance & bonus

Location – Hybrid - Hertfordshire / UK travel required

A leading civil engineering specialist is seeking a Senior HSQE professional to join the business to lead its UK operation and projects. The position will cover the UK and lead a small team that fluctuates depending on project needs. The ideal candidate will have strong civil engineering experience and be able to join the business, lead HSQE, and report directly to the MD. Knowledge of the full suite of HSQE is a distinct advantage in this position.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership and management of HSQE across the business
  • Implement, develop, maintain and continuously improve the business's ISO management systems
  • Provide HSQE support to management and project teams to ensure compliance
  • \
  • Conduct regular HSQE site audits and inspections
  • Lead on incident and accident investigations, identifying the root cause
  • Promote a positive and proactive HSQE culture across the business.
  • Provide data and trends to the senior leadership team (SLT) for board reports / meetings.
Qualifications
  • 5 years plus experience working in health & safety
  • Hands-on experience leading on Environmental and quality would be an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of working in a heavy civil engineering industry
  • Previous experience in leading a team and driving health & safety culture within a business
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Full UK Driving license.
