Job description

We have an excitingopportunity for a Mammographer to join the Radiography team at WestHertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The Trust provides healthcareservices to over half a million people across Watford General, Hemel Hempstead,and St Albans City Hospitals. This role is tosupport the Mammography service in St Albans City Hospital within the X-rayDepartment to the standard required by the Department of Radiology.

Main duties of the job

As aSenior Mammographer, you will be aneffective member of the Radiography team, providing a high standard ofradiographic services to Radiologists, patients and service users. There willbe an expectation to supervise junior staff and students. The primary role isto be an integral member of the mammography and one stop breast services at StAlbans City Hospital.

Job responsibilities
  • To perform and support imaging and mammography examinations while ensuringpatient safety, comfort, and compliance with IR(ME)R 2017 regulations.
  • To assist in setting up and maintaining quality assurance programmes,carry out equipment checks, and report any faults or malfunctions promptly.
  • To supervise and guide junior staff and students, deputise for seniorradiographers when required, and uphold high professional and departmentalstandards.
  • To keep up-to-date with professional developments in Radiology, attendrelevant seminars and courses, and apply new knowledge to improve departmentalpractice.
  • To participate in clinical governance, audits, and ensure compliance withdepartmental policies, data protection, and patient confidentiality.
  • To support the daily operations of the Radiology Department by maintainingstock levels, accurate records, and ensuring all areas and equipment remainclean and safe.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Holds either DCR(R) or BSc in Radiography with current HCPC registration.
  • Possesses a PgC in Mammography and post-qualification experience in mammography practice in NHS.
  • Experience undertaking breast tomosynthesis
  • Proficient in using CRIS, ICE, EPR, PACS, and IEP systems.
  • Maintains up-to-date CPD and all mandatory training sessions attended.
