Overview

Senior Maintenance Engineer – Location: Crewe; Job Type: Full-time - Double Days; Salary: DOE

We are seeking a Senior Maintenance Engineer to provide an efficient and cost-effective building and plant maintenance service, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, company requirements, and all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environment. This role requires close collaboration with Production to develop lean manufacturing skills and maintain high standards across all operations.

Day-to-day of the role
  • Install, repair, and maintain machinery and equipment as required.
  • Implement the 5S method to ensure the workshop is as efficient as possible.
  • Organise and monitor building/engineering contractors for installation or repair purposes.
  • Provide proactive maintenance and breakdown service.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of the computerised planned maintenance system by updating the system and developing schedules with production management to minimise machine downtime.
  • Attend daily production meetings to discuss engineering issues and arrange necessary work.
  • Order machinery parts and spares as required and maintain efficient control of stock.
  • Plan and oversee building modifications as Project Leader.
  • Maintain fire detection equipment and building maintenance programmes.
  • Prepare annual budget information and monthly costing reviews.
  • Liaise with the Finance Director on future costings and project work.
  • Recommend improvements to plant, equipment, systems, or procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide out-of-hours engineering support as needed.
  • Monitor and support the training and development of engineering personnel.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years\' experience in a similar role, with hands-on electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic experience.
  • ONC/HNC/HND in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience managing a team and leading projects in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficiency in maintenance systems and stock control.
  • Desirable skills include PLC knowledge, welding, project management, and familiarity with 5S/lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong computer literacy, flexibility, punctuality, and a professional attitude are essential.
