Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the Reading area seeks an experienced Machine Tool Engineer to lead procurement and development services for bespoke machine tools. Your role includes ensuring compliance with engineering standards, producing technical specifications, and providing mentorship to other engineers. Qualifications

  • Proven competence with machine tool installations and mechanical assemblies.
  • A solid understanding of machine tool maintenance and service delivery.
  • Relevant experience of machine functionality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement and development for complex machine tools.
  • Accountable for Machine Tool Specifications and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Undertake safety and functional testing of machine tools.
  • Provide supervision for service engineers and perform commissioning activities.
  • Offer technical support to machine tool staff and suppliers.

Skills

Diagnostics and rectification of machine tool control and servo system faults
Clear and concise communication skills
Computer literate
Ability to mentor others
Experience with machine tool installations
Understanding of machine tool maintenance
Fault-finding on various systems
Knowledge of PLC programming

Education

Minimum ONC / HNC or equivalent experience in engineering
Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent training
