A leading media and entertainment company in Greater London is seeking an experienced lawyer to provide legal support for its Hayu business. Candidates should have over 5 years of PQE in commercial law, with a focus on drafting and negotiating agreements for digital technology. Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.
Launched in 2016, Hayu is the first all-reality subscription video-on-demand service of its kind - available in 40+ markets globally including the UK, Ireland, Australia, Nordics, Canada, Benelux, and Singapore on a full array of devices (mobile, tablet, laptop & connected TVs) and at www.hayu.com. Over 300 shows and over 10,000 episodes can be streamed or downloaded to watch-on-the-go, including The Real Housewives, Below Deck and Million Dollar Listing franchises. The majority of US shows debut on the service the same day as their US launch.

This role provides legal support to internal clients. The Legal & Business Affairs team’s responsibilities include the provision of legal advice to the Hayu business on any matters related to the distribution and marketing of the Hayu service including: (i) drafting and negotiation of agreements for software and technical services, commercial distribution, content acquisition, marketing and PR services, amongst others; and (ii) tracking regulatory developments (particularly consumer and audiovisual regulations) and its potential impact on Hayu. Whilst this role forms part of a small close-knit legal team, you will also benefit from the support and opportunities provided by the broader legal network within NBCUniversal.
