Senior Facilities Manager (Band 6)

A rare opportunity has arisen to assist in the management of a large and diverse estates and facilities function for two NHS organisations. Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Trust and Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust have created an integrated estates function to develop and deliver local services to local people. The Senior Facilities Manager role will be key to the delivery of a successful facilities service to support the clinical and well‑being strategies for both organisations and the local STP.

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join our Estates and Facilities Team. If you like the idea of working and travelling across a range of NHS buildings in Hertfordshire, then the Senior Facilities Manager role could be what you’re looking for. We are a hard‑working, motivated and supportive team covering a wide range of sites with varying facilities from hospital‑based and out‑patient services to office‑based Head Office environments for both Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust and Hertfordshire Partnership Foundation Trust.

The Estates and Facilities Team provide support to both Trusts, ensuring that the buildings are safe, clean and in good condition for our visiting patients, service users and visitors. We are a friendly and hard‑working team who face daily challenges with enthusiasm. We liaise regularly and support each other with good communication, offering help and/or advice whenever it is needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day‑to‑day operations of estates and facilities across designated Trust sites, ensuring buildings are safe, clean and well‑maintained, meeting health and safety and infection control standards.
  • Oversee waste management services across the portfolio as well as soft FM services such as cleaning and maintenance, working closely with contractors and internal teams.
  • Manage the Band 5 Facilities Managers, supporting their development through supervision and appraisals.
  • Act as the main contact for facilities issues, liaising with clinical teams and stakeholders to resolve concerns promptly.
  • Monitor budgets, procurement and contract management, contributing to service improvements and business continuity plans.
  • Undertake project work and strategic improvement activities to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Experienced Facilities Manager with a background in estates and facilities services, ideally within the NHS or public sector.
  • Background in waste management services is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability to manage staff and coordinate services effectively.
  • Solid understanding of site operations and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
  • Good IT skills and a flexible, team‑oriented attitude.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • A commitment to uphold the Trust’s values.
