Responsibilities

Provides commercial support in the preparation of accurate and auditable detailed estimates and cost plans. Identifying the nett cost of construction, estimating the cost of key elements such including staffing and preliminaries.

  • Leads a team preparing estimates and cost planning for a portfolio and/or projects, adhering to estimating procedures.
  • Accountable for compiling team and preliminaries schedules and collaborating with internal and external teams as and when required.
  • Coordinates measurement exercises, including preparation of schedules of quantities.
  • Manages benchmarking exercises to test the estimate.
  • Oversees the quality assurance of estimates within the project ensuring they are fit for purpose.
  • Presents complex estimating and risk modelling data to stakeholders, interpreting and providing recommendations for both a technical and non-technical audience.
  • Co-ordinates and works in collaboration with Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Presents the estimate work to key stakeholders demonstrating a full knowledge and understanding of the project.
  • Analyses quotations as part of the compilation of the estimate.
  • Provides senior management and stakeholders with estimating analysis insight, modelling scenarios solutions and options, leveraging commercial knowledge.
  • Co-ordinates and works in collaboration with Project peers and leaders.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Qualifications

You'll need to have:

  • Knowledge and understanding the cost of construction.
  • Understanding and knowledge of construction costs.
  • Proficient in the measurement of building quantities.
  • Understands the design process and outputs.
  • Knowledge of the tender process and the traditional stages.
  • An understanding and appreciation of profit and overhead including risk & opportunity management.
  • Understanding & Knowledge of the sector.
  • Expertise in Pure Estimating.
  • Understanding and expertise of the Procurement market including Public Frameworks.
  • Manages and influences key/senior stakeholders.
  • Works proactively within bid teams.
  • Coordinates and acts as an interface with functional peers.
  • Develops and maintains a series of internal and external stakeholder/colleague relationships. Maintains and manages client/stakeholder at business/project level.
  • Coordinates and liaises with Clients & Key Stakeholders.
  • Ability to liaise with and influence leadership roles.
  • Ability to work independently and to tight timescales to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) and strategic outcomes.
  • Directs, coordinates and manages others within portfolio area. Further Qualifications, Certifications & Experience Essential Relevant degree (or equivalent).
Additional

You'll also have:

  • Understanding of construction contracts, respective arrangements & measurement rules.
  • Advanced excel expertise, Estimating tools and Building Information Modelling (measurement).
  • Understanding of Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) & Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)Development of cost models including (amongst others) indirect costs and prelims Understands the design process.
  • Understanding principals of cash flow.
  • Familiar with Sector Method of Measurement.
  • Champions the use of new technology.
  • Experience of planning and organising work in area.
  • Adapts and responds to change and/or organisational requirements.
