Senior Estimator - Construction (5+ Years Experience)

We are looking for an experienced Estimator for our client with a minimum of five years' proven estimating experience within the Construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of contracts, excellent financial awareness, and well-developed negotiation and leadership skills.

This role is based in Gloucester, working on projects located across the South-West and South Wales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work on groundworks and civil engineering projects.

  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with clients and suppliers.

  • Collaborate closely with the pre-contract team and relevant stakeholders.

  • Manage incoming tenders, ITTs, and overall workload.

  • Arrange and chair tender launch meetings.

  • Visit sites when required to assess and determine site conditions.

  • Review tender/ITT instructions and coordinate actions for yourself and the wider team.

  • Undertake measurement in line with current industry methods and standards.

  • Develop sustainable strategies to secure profitable tender and ITT opportunities.

  • Prepare and price detailed tenders using company software, identifying resource requirements, outputs, subcontractor quotes, and supplier rates.

  • Create target prices, budgets, and rates from first principles.

  • Complete cost comparisons and pricing for Bills of Quantities and Activity Schedules.

  • Prepare compliant tenders, quotations, tender books, and profit plans for internal review.

  • Compile risk registers for both tender submissions and live project use.

  • Review and understand tender instructions and proposed contract conditions.

  • Finalise and submit approved tenders and quotations.

  • Manage amendments to tender documents throughout the process.

  • Liaise with Clients, Consultants, and Main Contractors, and follow up submissions to maximise success rates.

  • Contribute to building a scalable estimating team capable of supporting future business growth.
