Job Title: Senior Engineering Manager - Naval Architecture (Hydrodynamics)

Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role

Salary: Circa £70,000 with executive car allowance and benefits on top

What you’ll be doing
  • You will be responsible for the technical delivery to Dreadnought, SSNA and Astute Submarine programmes across aspects of naval architecture design, manoeuvring modelling, safe operating envelopes as well as resistance and powering calculations
  • Be responsible for planning, conducting and supporting with Contractor Sea Trials
  • Oversee the delivery of projects to meet customer and contractual obligations including the management of cost, quality, timeliness, specification, alongside the resolution of engineering conflicts between disciplines, systems and capabilities
  • You will be responsible for sustaining and developing capability and succession across all hydrodynamic areas
Your skills and experiences
  • Experience gained within the management and integration of multiple teams of engineers working within a single discipline
  • Delivery experience gained as part of either a larger project or for a small project/contract with technical outcomes and end results
  • Strong communication experience and the ability to influence, guide and convince others to adopt a particular course of action
  • A broad awareness and understanding of Naval Architecture and Weight Engineering principles
  • Good knowledge across the portfolio of submarine hydrodynamic domains: Manoeuvring and Control , Hullform / Control Surface Design, Static & Dynamic Mooring Analysis , Resistance & Propulsion

The Naval Architecture team

By joining us here in the team, you will be working alongside a team of experts within Naval Architecture and the Whole Boat Design Team in one of the largest and fastest growing Naval Architecture Departments in the UK. You will be working on some of the most complex ship design and build programmes ever undertaken to deliver cutting edge submarines to the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
